NYSPHSAA procedure for New York high-school athletic practices and contests: a WeatherBug Feels Like (heat index) ladder and a NATA/KSI regional (Category 1-3) WBGT chart set water and rest breaks, practice caps, football equipment limits and, at heat index 96 °F or WBGT black, no outdoor activity and suspended contests. An athletics overlay, not an occupational work/rest rule.

This rule has no numeric trigger the calculator evaluates — it states duties and control measures rather than a threshold a reading can be checked against. Its measures are listed below.
No standalone formula is published for this standard; see programmable logic and parameters below.

Heat index: under 79 °F full activity; 79-85 caution (ample water, multiple breaks, monitor, consider reducing practice); above 85-90 watch (adds 1 h recovery per 1 h practice, consider postponing); above 90-95 warning (water breaks every 15 min, light loose clothing, practices football helmets only); above 95 alert, required: no outside activity, practice or contest, inside only if air conditioned.
WBGT (rounded to 0.1 °F) by Category (default 1, most protective): Cat 1 under 76.1 / 76.1-81.0 / 81.1-84.0 / 84.1-86.0 / above 86.0; Cat 2 79.7 / 84.6 / 87.6 / 89.6; Cat 3 82.0 / 86.9 / 90.0 / 91.9.
Green 3 breaks/h of 3 min; yellow discretion, 3 breaks/h of 4 min; orange 2 h cap, 4 breaks/h of 4 min, football helmet/shoulder pads/shorts; red 1 h cap, 20 min rest per hour, football no protective equipment and no conditioning; black no outdoor workouts. Printed gaps go to the higher band; when both readings are given the more severe band governs.
