China Measures on Management of Heat-Stroke Prevention and Cooling (2012, No. 89) — Stop-Work / Banned-Hours Rule

China's national Measures on Management of Heat-Stroke Prevention and Cooling (防暑降温措施管理办法, 安监总安健〔2012〕89号), Article 8(1): employers adjust outdoor open-air working time by the day's forecast maximum air temperature. Distinct from china_gbz22 (WBGT occupational exposure limits).

Check a reading against this rule

This rule has no numeric trigger the calculator evaluates — it states duties and control measures rather than a threshold a reading can be checked against. Its measures are listed below.

Governing formula

No standalone formula is published for this standard; see programmable logic and parameters below.

Stop-work / banned hours

Programmable logic

Daily maximum >= 40°C: stop the day's outdoor open-air work. 37°C to <40°C: outdoor work at most 6 h cumulative per day, within the national continuous-work limit, and none in the hottest 3 h. 35°C to <37°C: shift rotation to shorten continuous work, no overtime for outdoor workers. Below 35°C: no band. Emergency work for life, property or public interest is exempt.

Not modelled: pregnant/minor-worker bars (35°C outdoors, 33°C workplaces, Art. 8(3)), the 33°C/35°C heat-allowance triggers, and stricter provincial rules (e.g. Guangdong 39°C).

This standard does not take WBGT as a required input, and publishes no standalone numeric parameter table here; see the governing metric and programmable logic above, and the primary source below.
