Energy expenditure is metabolicRateW divided by an assumed 1.8 m² body surface, then banded: Ia up to 77 W/m² limit 26.4; Ib up to 97 limit 25.8; IIa up to 129 limit 25.1; IIb up to 160 limit 23.9; III above that (open-ended, so heavy and very heavy work take the strictest limit) 21.8 °C. A value between two published bands takes the next, stricter category.
The supplied WBGT is compared with the limit (exceeded when above it; no clothing adjustment). For outdoor work with a supplied air temperature at or below +25 °C the engine is not applicable. The table gives limits only: no work/rest minutes, stopWork is always false.
