South Korea 광산안전기술기준 (Mine Safety Technical Standard) Arts. 10 and 149 — underground wet-bulb 34 °C ceiling; 30 °C cooling and rest — Heat Stress Screening Thresholds

광산안전기술기준 (MOTIE notice under Mine Safety Act Art. 7-2) Art. 10(1): underground workplace air temperature must be 34 °C or below on a wet-bulb basis. Art. 149(1): where the temperature at a miner's workplace is 30 °C or more, the mine operator must take measures to lower it, such as installing air conditioning. Art. 149(2): miners doing mining or driving work at 30 °C or more must be given suitable rest; simple light work (vehicle or pump operation, hoist or locomotive driving, machinery adjustment and repair) may continue.

Check a reading against this rule

This rule has no numeric trigger the calculator evaluates — it states duties and control measures rather than a threshold a reading can be checked against. Its measures are listed below.

Governing formula

No standalone formula is published for this standard; see programmable logic and parameters below.

Programmable logic

wetBulbC > 34: Art. 10(1) ceiling exceeded (exactly 34 complies). airTempC >= 30 (optional input): Art. 149 cooling duty and suitable rest for mining/driving work (no duration specified). Screening limit only: no work/rest schedule or stop-work trigger. Applies to underground workings (industry mining).

The standard sets the technical basis for each mine's own safety rules (Art. 2); Art. 149 does not say whether 30 °C is dry- or wet-bulb, so the optional airTempC input is used.

Inputs

Required inputs: wetBulbC

Optional inputs: airTempC
